Can a photo reveal your home address?

Check the location saved in your photos with Photo Secure before sharing them.

A photo file can contain location data showing where it was taken. That location may reveal an address—even if the photo only shows food or a pet.

The location is saved with the file. It doesn’t have to be visible in the picture.

Check a photo’s location with Photo Secure

Photo Secure shows the address associated with a photo’s location data.

  1. Tap “Load” to open your photos.
  2. Check the address next to each photo.
  3. Tap a photo to view its location on a map.

The list lets you check several photos at a glance. Before sharing, check whether any include your home or another location you’d rather keep private.

Turning off location sharing doesn’t erase it

Turning off “Location” when sharing from Apple’s Photos app leaves the location data in the original photo.

A photo can reveal a place even after you remove its location
